I've been lurking around here for a while but finally bought a used 2007 R3c with just 3500 miles on her. The bike is totally stock so the first thing I want to do is the pipes. I am so confused from the posts. Jardines..sure, but what are TORs and D&Ds??....I can't find them on line. You guys get so familiar with terminology the way we on the Boss Hoss site do that it becomes almost incomprehensible to a newbie.
Also...stuff like removing the secondary throttle plate...what's that about??

Others more qualified than me will chime in shortly, but in the meantime;

ToRs are Triumph off Road pipes. i. e. they are made by Triumph but have to be labelled as "off road" coz they are not street legal.

D&D are after market pipes.

The "secondary throttle plate" relates to the secondary throttle butterflies which are programmed by the Triumph tunes in the ECU to only open to 67% in the first three gears. There are two solutions to this, the best being a combination of the two.

1. Remove the secondary throttle bodies.
2. Install "Tuneboy" which is a piece of software which allows you to reprogramme the ECU.

Removing the secondaries alone will improve performance, but will result in running lean in the first three gears coz the ECU "thinks" they are still there and fuels accordingly.

Installing "Tuneboy" will allow you to programme the ECU to open the secondaries 100% (and adjust the speedo to eliminate the 7% inaccuracy etc etc) and adjust the fuelling accordingly, but, it will take a split second to open them.

Best of both is to remove the secondaries and install Tuneboy, in which case you can adjust the fueling and not have the lag of opening the secondaries coz they are not there.

Better than this is to replace the rather convoluted intake arrangement with triple K&Ns, and then add Tuneboy and Predators. After a day on the dyno refining this to suit your bike you will have the beast it should have been when it left the factory.

These are the Predator pipes that Sam aka Travel Guy makes. One solid header exhaust assembly. They come out of the box ready to bolt on to your engine.

Hey Joe,

IndyBill here from the Boss Hoss side also. I too have a Rocket . This one is my second. I have had D&D pipes on both because I like the sound and the price. Also with the D&D's you can get by with the 12 minute download. As you start adding more goodies then you will need the PC111 or Tuneboy, but the pipes still work well.

As you read more you will be able to understand what everyone talks about. The Rocket 111 is a little more "tech" than the Boss but still a pretty simple bike.

I love to ride mine and knowing how you ride yours you will love it also.
