Recommendations on the most "bang for your buck" exhaust (loud)?

Come on guys the blokes asking for whats the 'most bang for my buck' and that has got to be the TORS. He's not asking for more power, that might change once he's done a few miles but for now he's ok with it.

The Brute and Reband are without doubt the best there is at the moment but they are big bucks, a lot more than the $1000 he is reluctant to spend. Add on the cost of filters and a proper dyno run or PC5+AT and its even more dollars.

Plus if he isn't changing the headers he wont need to change the collector, the standard Roadster one is empty after all.

Dont want to upset anyone, just my take on his initial question.

Probably agree about TORs. They're cheap, readily available, provide good torque and, more so on the Roadster than older models, good sound. They also retain the "stock" look. However, there are single pipe slip ons that can be bolted straight up to the stock header for the same price as TORs (or less) which I'm sure would match them for sound and performance plus give you a huge weight saving. Shaving kgs/lbs is a great way to get bang for your buck, even on these beasts.

Honestly, I was hoping to spend max $500 on an aftermarket exhaust. It's not like that's being cheap....;) I know it's not going to sound like a v-twin, but anything is better than stock. :D

This weekend I took off the right side muffler, and gave the throttle a couple of revs (just a couple of secs)...I thought it sounded pretty good. I'm fine with the sound.

In all honesty...couldn't you just put on a set of cobra slip-ons?

You just have to make sure the pipe diameter is the same and clamp it on. Next you may have to rig something just to hold it in place. Wouldn't that work?

You can find a set of used slip-ons for around $200. Here is a pic.

If go onto the Burns steel website you will find they have a lite weight muffler in various ID sizes buy some of their Stainless Steel bends or straight tubing and if you your self can't go to an exhaust shop and get them to TIg weld it up the prices of the muffler etc are very reasonable, your biggest cost will be the guy doing the welding you could run it directly of the header and straight back to a single muffler with say a 2 1/2 inch ID muffler it will be loud but you will also have to get it tuned

My TORs were purchased from a fellow member for a real good price.
Had the local dealer download the tor tune for only around $40. Went with the dealer download for warranty purposes.
Sounds great at idle, a little buzzy on the highway, and looks totally stock.

Thanks for the responses. I have a 2011 R3 roadster. I believe that CAT is separate from the muffler. The bike has plenty of power, so I'm most interested in a louder bike.

I conducted a search and couldn't find any online stores selling the TORs exhaust. Are they only available at the dealer? Thanks

My stock roadster pipes/mufflers have cats - the tors do not. You can see straight through the tors, and can see the cat material in the stock pipes with a flashlight.

New TORs can be found here...
Triumph Rocket III Accessory Mufflers A9608077

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for listing the stock number (A9608077) above. I did a search on ebay and found a new set for $375. Not to bad. ;) I'll give the TORs a shot for now. Thanks again everyone.

Don't forget you will need to have a new tune put in the ECU. Any Triumph dealer can do that or go the Tune ECU route and get a tune from the TuneECU website.

Installing TOR's

When you first put your a$$ on a Rocket, you can't believe the torque and speed you get with a slightly wimpy sound.

The TOR's will give you a deeper throaty sound, but it will never sound like a V Twin. And that's okay. I suggest to get the bike programmed and wake up that sleeping giant.

And don't get next to Watcher's Rocket it's to loud and to Orange and to fast and.....never mind
