(This may end up as multiple posts... I have tried a couple of times now to post this stuff but keep hitting size limits so we will see how it goes.)
I posted recently about finding differences in manufacturing between Ramair's advertised kit and the kit I found installed on my R3.
Because there was a tear in the foam I got a replacement filter from Ramair and took some pictures of it next to the one I removed for comparison.
It is certainly possible that changes in the manufacturing process account for everything I see. I'm just providing information.
The filter i received from Ramair was received in September 2018 and the Ramair kit previously on the bike was installed November 2017. (Though it is possible the kit was purchased before then)
Here are the pictures I collected...
EDIT: The "old" kit was installed PRIOR to November 2017. The bike is a 2015 so was not installed before then but could have been purchased prior.
New filter; way more overlap on top of cage and cage is taller by not quite a cm. (granted old cage is a little smooshed I tried to measure from a flat bit)
That is all of the images (hopefully anyone other than myself can see them)
I also had two videos which I don't know how to post here... maybe youtube links? All they show is me smooshing the backplate from the sides and showing how the new filter is very rigid and the old filter is very not. I don't think a component meant to attach to the engine should change from vulcanization to be softer but that is possible.
