Just do not:
> Snap the throttle wide open in lower gears
Instead:
> Upshift much earlier than you'd do on dry roads
> Let the rpm's drop a lot before downshifting
And:
> Only use the rear brake very gently... or ignore it completely.

I have rode my rocket in the rain many times, only had trouble once while riding coming to a stop light the rear wheel locked up on oil slick in center of the lane. I would advise, when riding in the rain at stoplight intersections stay to one side or the other of the lane you are in. It seams to be better road quality/less oil from the klunkers.
The only time I have ever dropped the bike was in the rain: rode home just fine, pulled up to the garage, flipped the kickstand down with my soaking wet shoe, and stepped off of the bike to open the garage door. well the bike almost got the back of my legs as it fell over. laying there still running was a sickining feeling. I hit the kill switch.
Morale of this story: when everything is wet and slippery, always focus on that kickstand to make sure it flipped all the way forward. Bob

Also be very careful of painted arrows and lines in the road when wet, they are very slippery.

I actually kind of like riding in the rain if it's not too cold. I hate rain gear, so if it's just a shower I'll go right on and get wet. You dry very fast at 70 mph once the rain stops.

My Honey Bear took a trip to Vegas right after he bought his Rocket. Did the trip in two days. The second day was heavy heavy rain most all of day. Couldn't pull over cause them 18 wheelers would have run over him. As it was they were drowning everything in sight. He loved the way the bike handled in those conditions.

I have only ridden a couple of times in rain and bike handled fine for me. But I still excersise caution. Honey Bear stays on me to ride in the center of the lane where it his higher and holding the water in the regular traveled grooves.

But I will say that since I changed out my rear tire I have a bit of trouble with slick tire in dry conditions sometimes. Almost as if there is too much oil in the rubber or something. Just doesn't grab the road around the curves like it used to. Hope my next tire is better.
