Did a little search on the forum and did not find much information on the topic of radar detectors. I was just curious, any captains out there using a detector on their bike?

The reason I ask is a couple of days ago I met a rider who had one installed on his sport bike. Since it peaked my interest I started doing a little research as I happen to live in a place that has red light and speed cameras in our intersections along with mobile photo radar units. I won't get into my thoughts on these devices but nevertheless less every time I ride see things are in the back of my mind.

Now here is no detector that can identify red light and speed cameras except for the Escort Passport 9500ix as it is GPS enabled and stores a database of these cameras locations all around North America. This leads me to another find, escort live. An iPhone app that also warns you of red light and speed cameras as it is also fed by the same database...for a fee. Anyway it works pretty good.

I know detectors are legal and illegal to use all depending on where you live, I'm just curious if anyone has one installed or uses one on their Rocket.
Cheers

Interesting. Being an old redneck with limited knowledge I wonder if I can use this device and sync it through my Sena SMH-10 bluetooth helmet device ?

Radar detectors have been outlawed in most states in Aust. for a long time. I think the cops in QLD have radar detector detectors.

They sure do Bruce. I used to install an earth switch for radar detectors to blow the fuse once the detector warned you - blowing the fuse mad it harder for the cops to find the radar unit.

TC the sena is a helmet Bluetooth device for your phone/music etc...

Redline and beltronics xr are undetectable by the police detectors. Still legal in WA.

I think this is the best mouse trap that's come down the pike. I head the spray reflector doesn't work as well. I don't know if they make them for motorcycles but it wouldn't take much to modify it....

Yes you can, I'm doing it now, at least the iPhone app, works good. As for the radar detector you will need this little device,

I'm considering the Escort Passport 9500ix which has an earbud jack that will plug into the sena Bluetooth transmitter so I can hear the warnings.....
