R3T Transmission problems

If we ever meet, I'll tell you about my experience with AZSB.

Yeah, I'm a bit apprehensive about this service. I've gone to their shop many times over the years, and never cared much for sales staff. They also mark their parts prices up more than any other dealership I've found. Luckily TSS gave me 4 jugs of Mobil 1, 4 oil filters and a set of brake pads when they were shutting down. I still had a service plan and the parts guy felt pretty bad about it so he gave me as much stuff as I could fit in my bags and on the rack.

The Rocket started jumping out of gear Sunday. Just happened every now and then. Annoying! Yesterday road it to work. It would jump out of second, fourth and third. Would go into neutral (or false neutral) when shifting 1-2 or 2-1, 3-4 or 4-3, 4-5 or 5-4. Once in gear, I would be driving along nicely, let up on the throttle and it would pop out of gear. Didn't know if I would make it the 10 miles to home or not. I tried all the "shifting tricks" mentioned in the other posts, to no avail.
I am calling the dealer today, to get an appointment for this weekend. 15700 miles on the ticker.
Had the same thing happen to me, I found it would stay in gear if I kept the lever depressed when changing gears... Turned out to be a broken $10 spring that sits on the end of the shifter (detent) shaft located behind the clutch, was found in 2 pieces sitting on the bottom of the clutch housing when the clutch cover was removed... A relatively easy fix considering that the gearbox wont need splitting... hope that helps you some, good luck

Thanks! I hope it's that easy.

Going on the symptoms you describe, rest assured... let us know how you go

Talked to the service dept. today. You were right. It was the detent spring. The best part is that Triumph is covering it. What a great company!!!:):):) Might get it back Sat., if the part gets there tomorrow.

That's certainly great news.

BTW, had the 20K service done at AZSBK. $182.86 and I supplied the oil and filter. Bike seems to run a bit smoother, probably due to balancing of the throttle bodies.

Just for grins I asked them what they'd give me on a trade in on a Multistrada. $4K was the answer. Hopefully he wasn't surprised when I laughed at him.

So far I'd say they are ok for routine maintenance, but not for parts and I certainly wouldn't buy a bike from them.

I hear ya on that! But for the way Performance treats me when I go down there, it's worth the trip.
Glad it didn't cost ya too much for the service. We gotta get together one of these days.

Getting past a bad dealer who won't even ask them for help seems to be the difficult part. I'm jealous as hell of you guys with good dealers ... how did I get the shaft? lol ;)
