Always do it myself (other than first service). That way I know for sure it was done, and I know for sure which oil went in and that the filter WAS changed.
He is seriously ripping you off big time I would ask him to justify the cost I think I paid $180 for my first service and our labour rates are much higher here in Auss
300v is a higher quality Racing oli but should ideally be changed more often at 5,000km unless you have done internal mods or plan on thrashing the bike stick to the 7100 and change every 10,000km, apparently the 300v gives smoother shifting but once a bike is run it properly it is fine with the cheaper and longer lasting 7100 oil

Regular "dude" go for 7100.
Did take the bike to Oklahoma city once and they completely screwed up replacing a rear tire. Other than that the bike has never seen a professional shop. Changing oil is pretty basic stuff. Would I trust a dealership here in Oklahoma to do a basic oil change? NO. Would I pay someone money to do a job that really does not take long to do? NO. One plus to doing it yourself is that it allows you to inspect the oil after it is drained. A good tattle tell on engine condition.
Relax, it would hardly hurt it as standard change interval is 16,000km/10,000 miles. I would even confirm with MOTUL of the veracity of the claims as if just used for road/street use the oil will not be worked as hard as in race conditions. I would think it may be just a case of over specification as the 7100 is perfectly suitable for road/street use at 2/3 or less cost. There is apparently truth in the use of racing grade brake fluids as they are intended to be changed more frequently and are more susceptible to hydroscopic absorption from air humidity.
