Question to the Group

OK!
When you were young . . .
Tis the Latin lover in ya both! :p :roll: :D

No dealer around here will take a new bike and sell it as used. British USA had a 2014 Roadster last year I went to buy, they were asking $12999. The bike had 4000 miles on it. I offered $11500 out the door and no assembly, freight or other New bike charges. They told me the bike had has never been registered so it is new. I told the salesman tires are more than half gone at 4000. Was the first service done? Was the engine properly broken-in? I offered $9000 cash right now, they didn't go for it. A few Days Later Mancuso had a 2015 touring model for $11,999 with less that 50miles. A few months later I found a 2015 Roadster in Dallas for $10999 . By then the cash was not available and I had decided that I would never buy new again. Doesn't make sense when I can find Rocket 3s with low mileage for less than $8,000 all day long. That feeling of newness only last about a day for me. Then I start thinking air how I could have bought two or one and a boat load or accessories and mods. I bought a brand new Thunderbird and I can't tell any difference from a used one other than the extra $6000 it cost.

Yep, the fact that new or newish ones are selling low depresses the price of proper used ones....but I ain't complaining....I got mine thousands lest than I reckon it ought to be worth.

Bikes are terrible investments and Triumphs latest dump prices aren't helping any. I just saw a new 2016 Triumph thunderbird commander for $9600. The list for that bike is $16500.00 imagine how riders that bought that bike feel, same dealer is selling out the R3t for $11,200.00 however in this area the R3r is selling strong and holding list price.

I would feel bad if I bought at list and then the market collapsed...but I'd darn sure ride the wheels off and get my money's worth!

I got my 2016 for $9k and it had 79 miles on it. It was January. I told the guy January is just another month to me as I ride year 'round but I think it's tougher to sell a bike when its cold out. God bless Craigslist.

I prefer to buy new for three reasons:

You know the entire history of the bike, no questions about anything.

Warranty...already used mine twice on he R3.

Engine break in.

//WARNING OPINION BELOW//

Most people are **** and break engines like vaginas. Proper break in requires full power for short periods of time to fully seat the rings. Dynos and oil consumption have been shown to be better for bikes not ridden by vaginas than those who stick to the manufacturers method.

You only need to baby it for the first two heat cycles, then change the oil ride it hard but not abusing it for 500 miles, change again, go Dyno.
