Took the day off and visited the kid at the Hospital. List of injurers: Four brokered vertebrates in his neck, they went in through the front of his neck so he has difficulty speaking, five pins in right hand, three broken ribs, broken collar bone, broken right leg below the knee, required pins, and punctured right lung. What a mess. They operated twice on his neck. He was thin to begin with now he sick looking thin. We talked for a long time. He admitted that he has a lot to learn about riding just wish he had listen to my advice. Long term he should be OK. Going to have to work with him on his welding because they say his hand has lost some movement that he will not regain. (feed hand tig) We can do that considering I went through the same with my hand. Missing later part of middle figure which I use to use to feed wire. He is a mess but still alive.:):):):):):):):)
Glad to hear this sonny . He is lucky to be alive and lucky to have a mentor like you !
Hopefully after this he will know that for himself ?

he has been in my thoughts. glad u posted the update. i hope he heals fast and rides again.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've seen this through out my riding life (45+ years)
Each time I read about this sort of thing, I say "I'm still alive, and that is no small miracle"
Yes I have been lucky as I've not ridden slowly throughout that time, but there has been a wee bit of skill in there.

As I say, it is no small miracle that I am still alive .

Dam did you write that all down. Kid has a road ahead of him.

Good for you for taking the time and caring.

Only thought that comes to me is what the kid needs is a big brother. A biker brother. He is going to hear all the crap about how it almost killed him. Like we need someone else to tell us the cost. Teach him to do it right.

Maybe he needs a Bobber to start out with.:D

Big brother #ell. His mom says I am the dad he never had. Made me of all people blush. ;);););););) Really like the kid. He is a good welder with the promise of become one of the best plus he is arrogant. He knows he good. She spilled her guts today and was worried about him buying another bike. I gave her a promise that I will do the best i can to help him become a better rider.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: Naw looking at one of the Indian scouts.

I can respect that

I always hate to see this happen to anyone. When I was young and even dumber than I am now, I went down on my V65 Sabre, 1986 if I remember correctly. It took me a while to heal up but looking back it's one of the best things that ever happened to me. I've always ridden a lot differntly since then.
I hope the young man heals up up and is as lucky as I was.
