Quad Lock, but if you have an Iphone you should definitely get the vibration dampener (additional accessory), don't ask me how i know ;)

How do you know- what happened?

On the Quad Lock site it says...

PERFORMANCE TESTED BY THE BEST

Working with vibration specialists in Automotive and Defence, the Vibration Dampener was put through extreme performance testing. It was also extensively tested in real world scenarios thanks to the dedicated Quad Lock community.

The motorcycles listed have been known to cause vibration damage to the optical image stabilisation of smartphones when mounted, however, even if your bike is not listed, Quad Lock recommends the use of our Vibration Dampener for complete confidence.

So, is this for using the camera on the phone, or will it damage it just mounted and using for GPS, etc.?

Updated next post (it will) - I don't think the dampener will attach to the RAM mount

The vibration from the bike (there is a lot) will damage the intricate image stabilisation mechanics in the iphone 10 and above without the Vibration damper.

I have used a knuckle rather than the ram ball mount (and - not shown here - the waterproof wireless charger on top of the damper) and the vibration damper fits just fine for both.

I'm currently using the Lamonster mount, combined with a medium length bar, and the Quadlock vibration reducer and wireless charging mount. I'm really happy with the visibility and security of the setup. It fits perfectly above my speedometer and behind my PowerBronze medium sized wind shield.

I do have a couple of nits with the setup though. The first is that the quadlock wireless charger can't do quick charging (even when paired with a quick charge capable USB power port). This means that when the phone my phone is running at full brightness, and I've got apps running in the background that are using GPS, the charger can't quite keep up with the overall power drain. So the battery slowly trickles down despite the charging indication. It still gets me through even the longest of rides, but I wish the charger was fast charging capable.

Second is that the wireless charger seems to interfere with the key fob. As soon as I installed in and started using it, I intermittently get key fob not detected warnings from the bike. It's a nuisance only as everything still works fine. I've found that if I keep the key fob in my left pants pocket instead of my right pocket, it greatly reduces the warnings.

I'm still happy with the setup as I feel it's the best option available, but just some things to be aware of.

This must be you- I just came upon this today. And I've been convincing myself that the GT wouldn't really work for touring, but it looks like it could accommodate what I carrry - it's got me thinking.... (oh, no...)

Beautiful sounding exhaust....

I have no issues touring on this bike. Long days, long trips... no issues. Next big big trip is 18 days, 6500km from Toronto to Newfoundland and back, mid summer.

For those going the Quad Lock route, I said earlier that I didn't think the dampener would mount with the Ram system- IT WILL

It took some searching to find this, that may be of use......

I have the 1" ball adapter. Looks like it splits (head from ball) and you put the vibration "dampener," or whatever you want to call it in-between. Confusing, as I kept looking for two individual pieces- the "index lever head" and the 1" ball without the head, but what I have splits into those two pieces (joined by hex bolt).

I think once my phone case and the dampener come in I'll be good to go with the Ram mount attaching to the 1" ball adapter (split).

Yes, that diagram shows it well. The vibration damper goes between the charging head and the 1" ball.

I bought the Quad Lock prior to the development and availability of the Dampener and it messed with the stabilisation function of my Iphone, lucky for me Apple fixed it under warranty but i then heard that Quad Lock had the new accessory which i promptly ordered and now have no issues.
The stabilisation function on the phone is for the camera.
If you google the issue it was a big one at the time and the reason behind Quad Lock developing a fix i believe.

I don't have the protection program ($17/mo) on my phone, but this all has me thinking I'd better. Either way, it's really good to know that the dampener solved the issue for you.

I don't have the charging head (yet?), but it will also work without that in the mix. Which one do you have- wireless?

My direction...
