I am at the same stage as you seeya I have removed sump and clutch cover i found piece of a bearing cage in there my bike has 60,000 very hard miles on it and had the upgrade kit fitted at 3500miles
I am going to try and do job without removing engine first let me know how you get on I will be posting on other site as well

What year is your bike??

Had my done under warranty you have to pull engine and split case you might as well go ahead with the up date kit and have it all done also check the play on your rear differential if you had a bearing bad for a while it seems to affect the rear differential had to replace my differential wish you best of luck

HI guys
Contact leigh_m_gardner as he posted a great photo and blow by blow of changing this parts WITHOUT taking the big lump out on this site only a few months back. I think Leigh said he did it all in one long day (12hours). I need to do mine before I hit the road this spring.
Good luck Andy:(

I am ordering the parts to cange my bearing also on a 06 ,classic. I started out pulling the rear portion to check the swing arm. Turned out that the seals had blown on it . Found a used one . Then checked the swing arm . Circular mortion it is good. Side motion marginal at best. So figure I may as well do it now instead of middle of the summer.
My dealer said you can raise your frame enough to expose the rear bolts. If I get any more info on it I will post it here.

G'Day Guys, I've just had the repair done, and the upgrade kit fitted on my 2007 Classic by Melbourne Triumph. (Peter Stevens)

I was pretty pissed that my bike has only done 10,960 Kms, (around 6500 miles) and even more that they're charging me $2204.70 to repair it, but they tell me that I'm only being charged for labour (60 bucks an hour) and fluids, so I guess it could have been worse? Cheers, Terry.

Don't feel too bad, better hourly rate.. mine was 20x80= $1600.. 2 years ago :)

Puzzled tho' labour is surposed to be set at 20 hours by Triumph 20x60= $1200 so the other repair was $1004.70 :( incl gst..
Well on the bright side it's an 09 engine now :D

out bearing shaft

hi guys just had the up grade fitted to my rocket, its an 04 model with 80104 ks.triumph australia supplied the kit free of charge,i only paid for labour 1485 bucks how good is that from triumph. very happy chappy gheers buddah:D:rolleyes:

I can't help thinking that some Dealers are correctly named "Stealer's."

I wonder if in some cases Triumph are been wrongly accused with regards to warranty issues.. There are some out there that maybe just Rip you off and don't give a rats arse about customer service, $$$$$$$$$ eyes only.

If I was you TerryR3 I would be asking serious questions and contacting Triumph, it would be worth the effort I would think mate..is Peter Stevens a franchise ? we have one in Perth where I just bought my rear B/stone tyre, only because they where B/stone agent's.
