Ordered my Rocket today!

TX3...

I remember riding the rocket the first time....

It was 05 or 06 at Daytona Bike Week....

A buddy and I jumped on for a demo ride around the back side of the Daytona Speedway. We both jumped on it... hauling a$$ without a windscreen and trying to not get strangled to death by the half helmet I was wearing...

We finally got the beast slowed down at a stop sign, I looked over at my buddy... He was white as a ghost:eek: and all I remember saying was "I gotta get me one of these". :D

I took me several years, but I managed and I, too, haven't looked back.

I knew I would be riding mine directly from Dallas to Shreveport, LA on it's first voyage, so I made sure and had the fly screen added to the purchase so I wouldn't become too much of a parachute. It sure was hard keeping it at legal speeds during break-in though!

During that trip, someone in a Porsche 911, don't know if it was turbo or not, but he saw the Rocket and came hauling ass from behind.. so, I of course, could not let a measily Porsche beat me in a highway speed roll-on.. lol, so it did see 100 MPH within it's first 500 miles, but.. for the most part, I was good.. I have 22,000 miles on her now.. so I don't think I did any damage then..

I didn't realize that in so many area's of the country that people are waiting to get an R3, My dealer had 3 on the floor when I bought mine. and that was late season. Are you waiting to get a special color choice or are they not stocking Rockets.. I test rode on Wednesday, picked up on Friday and returned on Tuesday(they were closed Monday) for 600 mile service (with 730 miles). welcome to the FunnyFarm. I admire your patience.:D

Finally Picked Her Up ! Sweet !

O.K., So Friday of last week I am scheduled to pick up my brand new 0 miles red Rocket at I-90 Motorsports in Issaquah Washington and ride it back to Bremerton, about 100 miles. As luck would have it the skies open up with typical Seattle weather and it was just pouring. U-haul got my business ‘cause I wasn’t waiting a day longer and my baby is now nice and dry in the garage. Bu the skies do clear up and yesterday I was able to get her out for my first real ride. When I bought this bike, I did not even take a test ride. I knew just by sitting on one that this was the bike for me. I was right. At 6’5” and pushing 400 pounds, I need all the HP I can get, and this baby has it! These things really scoot ! The reviews do not lie. I looked at the HD’s , and they are nice bikes, but I do not think anyone of them will see anything other than my rear tire.

This is a great site and sounds like you all have worked the bugs out for us new owners. This will be the last bike for me unless a Rocket IV comes out! I’m sure I’ll have a lot of questions along the way, I’ll ask them as they come up and I’ll send some pictures as I dress her up.

Do all Rockets have that kind of faint whistling sounds at idle?

Later..

Enjoy that new R3! I rode mine in the rain on the way home from work today. That whistle is the "here boy" call to Hardleys......... Here Harley, harley, harley:cool:
