Oil tank empty after layup

Good old Turkey basters seem to be used for far more than they were originally designed for :eek:
as a matter of fact just bought a new baster yesterday wife saw it and asked "why ? we have one in the kitchen already" had to tell her ..I am bleeding the brakes on the bike today. keep the old one in the kitchen.

This probably happens to most Rocket 111 and we never know because I check my oil like the book says start the bike first let it idle for a bit before you check it. My previous bike, a Harley Evo Softail wet sumped once don't they make a hell of a mess if you start them with a sump full of oil. I was still running the standard air cleaner with the breather into it, half a litre of oil into the aircleaner makes a mess.

looks like u have it covered
but my two cents worth. i would say to start it watch the oil lite. my guess would be that the oil lite will go out as soon as u start it and stay out while the tank is filling. (always have pressure)

Yes that's the way I will go I think. If it's gonna cause a major problem then there would be many comments on this site about wrecked engines as this appears to be a common fault. ( If it is a fault)
Thanks for advice.

I have solved this problem by never checking my oil or looking in the tank after the bike has been setting. If there isn't a big mess under my bike, why would I ever look. Ignorance is bliss they say.

I never thought about such a thing as I knew the oil was properly topped off when I did my pre-winter oil change and took the bike for a ride. All was good...end of my story. :)o_O:rolleyes::thumbsup:
