2015 R3T
I have a 2015 R3T with a little over one hundred miles on it after the bike is ridden for twenty minutes or so the oil pressure light comes on or flickers at idle any ideas ? Local dealer (that I have little faith in) says they think there is a loose connection on the switch. If this is the case why doesn't the light come on wwhen the bike is cold.

100 miles??? I'm thinking bad sending unit. I thing I read about one or two guys having that issue, and that was the fix.

I don't have a suggestion for your oil light issue but I think your assessment of your local dealer is spot on. :(

bob

may be bad oil sending switch. wires
may be something going bad with engine or trans dropping oil pressure.
i would get a new sending unit and a oil pressure test would be nice.:) i would not let them avoid the problem.

My R3t has the exact same problem. Dealer fixed it by cleaning, but the problem has returned and they said the would replace the sender unit if it happened again. So my rocket is going to the dealer this Friday.
Seems to be a known problem with the R3t's, rest assured the bike is ok.

ok. so hears is what happened.
The oil pressure sensor was replaced as this was the second time the problem occurred. The first time it happened the dealer was told (by Triumph) to remove the sensor and clean the contacts and replace it. After the clean it performed as it should for about 4000 klm then the problem returned. I was told the sensor is a solid state device and works on conductivity, hmmmmm.

The sensor is about the size (and look) of a spark plug but much thinner, and fits in the rear of the engine.

SYMPTONS:
Oil light stays on when first started (cold), after about a minute the light got out, then
Oil light works as it should (stays out) for quite a while (say for about a tank of fuel), then
Oil light turns on and off in seemingly random times for the remainder of the ride.
