O5 R3. Have an oil leak all the way in front of engine under the coolant hose. And one behind and to the left of the oil pan. Have not run the bike in over two months. Have been in the garage all the time but it has been freezing here. Seems it's thawing out and now leaking without running engine. Could the cold have something to do with it?

No. Oil is not going to spontaneously leak due to the cold; especially if you haven't started the motor. We'd expect coolant to do so; especially if it was more water than coolant.

If the engine had proper amount of oil; and the leakage was minimal... clean the motor of the oil residue; start the bike for a couple of minutes and then shut off; check your oil level. Determine exactly where the oil leakage is coming from.

Sounds like you wife wants you to stop riding, Adam. Maybe she used the turkey baster to place a few telltale drops of dirty cooking oil on the Beast as a message.

Anyway, I hope you find the real source of the problem, soon. Have you spoken to Art about this, yet?

Adam when you say under the coolant hose in the front do you mean frm under the thermostat housing or under the hose where it hooks into the Radiator? Now for the back left of the oil sump pan have you looked to see if it is coming from anywhere higher up the engine in the back like from the out put drive area or maybey running from under the oil tank and just dripping down the back side. Its a grey motor so it should be easy to see if its coming from somewhere else.

First ride today and I thought I'd give an update on that leak. There is no leak as of now. I do believe that the leak may have been coming from the little tube that connects the oil tank to the engine.
thanks for the help and humor. Safe riding to all.
