I went to triumph and I got a filter all ready for $13.00 and they gave me a washer they said it for the the drain plug that it should be replaced.
so I will pick up the oil and have this guy do it for $35 once I see it done I think I will do it next time:) I think I'll pay the little extra to get full synthetic so I don't need to change it that much.
10,000 miles that should last me five years untill the next oil change:D

Make sure he pulls all three oil plugs (and not something else under there).

I change my oil every year whether it needs it or not (just like taking a bath).

AutoZone here in Rochester, has $1.00 off per Quart of the Mobil 4T so it was only $8/qt yesterday when I got mine. The Mobil1-108 filter still cost $13. Not sure that filter is any better then the Fram from WallyWorld but figured I'd place it safe.
I am dropping my bike off for its 600 mile check this Saturday with Oil already changed. I am waiting to see what kind of response that gets....

No way I am paying anyone to change the oil especially for the prices they charge.

There is three oil plugs? I thought there is just one to undue to drain the oil?
Why would triumph olny give me one washer to relpace and not three?
They said when I drain the oil to replace this washer because the old one will not be good any more. Well any how this guy that is doing it hes a mechanic and he owns a Rocket. so I'll just watch him to make sure he loosens three bolts good to know thanks.
Your bike must be really clean, you too:D
For the amount and miles I put on it would be a waist of money to do a oil change every year I'll be lucky if I put 1500 miles on in a year, so my bike is really clean:)

As said before the guys you are talking to are a wee bit scareyyyyyyyyy.
The 05 std requires the removal of three drain plugs to empty all the oil and each plug requires a new crush washer and one of the drain plugs also has a o-ring on it which you can replace if you want to, they can be used more than once as long as the drain bolts were not tighten'd by a giant ape.

Yup 3 plugs (all on the bottom of the motor).

First plug is near the oil filter on the right side of the motor. The oil drain for the oil tank is on the left side near the middle and the rear is left side back drain plug. Only replace the washers if you find them mashed flat. You'll get that one figured out.;)

I have a later 05 motor, with no horizontal drain plugs. None of the manuals I've seen have a picture of that set up. Anybody have one? I've been removing 3 plugs when I do mine, but always wonder if I'm doing it right...:(

Well I went O' Reilly Auto parts and they have a spring special on Mobil 1 racing 4T 10W-40 fully synthetic for $7.47 so I bought six then I bought a oil pan with a lid and spout for $7.00 it hold 14 quotes so after two oil changes I can just bring it two them and they will dump it for me.
Then I bought a Micrometer adjustable torque wrench for $19.99 and a funul for $1.29
I am going to just do it my self what the hell you guys make it sound so easy. The only thing I'm worried about that if I don't get all the oil drained then I put the six quarts in and it, and theres too much or to little.
I should do it Friday or Saturday I will keep you guys posted I never used a Torque wrench before when I set it does it just stop tighting atomatically?
