One of my local dealers told me that Triumph is recommending OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolant for the Rocket. Is anyone else using this stuff? Any opinions? Thanks.

Triumph used to have an agreement with Bosch to use their blue coolant. Now, it seems that they are recommending an OAT hybrid.

I've used EG, PG, OAT, and hybrids. Some work better than others. So far, the best I have tested for street use is a mix of non-silicate EG (gold) with Justice Brother's Super Cooler and anti-corrosion additives.

For the track, we use distilled water with the JB additives.

I hope this helps.

Ain't it funny how manufacturer fluid and parts recommendations change with the financial wind? (Mobil to Castrol etc.)

Ok, what coolant can I use that I can go down to the local Autozone or Wallymart and get for a reasonable price? I'm not looking for the highest performance, racing coolants but something the common person can acquire.

I've read up on Dex-cool, OAT, Hybrid OAT, etc., and don't know which is safe to use. G-5? 5/150?

The only coolant on the Mobil site is the industrial, heavy duty Delvac which is an OAT. Is this factory coolant that Triumph used?

Currently, I'm using plain old green IAT Peak 50/50 premix and plan on refreshing the system in the early fall.

The best coolant (as far as liquid to air heat exchange ratio) is plain old distilled (demineralized) water. No coolant (water to air heat exchange ratio) is better. The only additive is an anti-cavitation additive such as DCA (because the R3 is a wet linered engine, that is, the coolant is in direct contact with the cylinder liners.

Problem is, if youy live where it drops below freezing, you need anti-freeze.

I personally use Prestone Extended Life premix in all my bikes and vehicles. It gets cold here.

If it didn't, it would be distilled water and DCA.

I'm currently running 50 50 coolanal by Maxima in my Roadster. I'm going to flush the system, go back in with a 25% mix and add Hy-Per Lube Super coolant, a water wetter. Does this sound like a good idea? Temps here in houston are hot in the summer and barely sees a few days of light freeze in the winter. Don't need the 50% mix. I would think that dilluting the mix alone with distilled water would help. Any ideas or thoughts here would be appreciated.

A very good idea.
