This evening I had her up to about 110 and was just changing gears and tje rpms shot up to redline and I was coasting. Motor was running fine, but no drive. Felt just like I had the clutch in. There's no unusual noise, the gears seem to change fine. No drive power being transfered to the rear wheel.

Could it be the clutch. Most of my bikes with clutch problems wouldn't disengage. This is completely free as if the clutch was engaged. I am turboed. I have a barnett clutch.

Mine was one of the very first rockets; the ones that had the final drive recall, but there are no bulletins on my VIN number. I think that was already taken care of by the previous owner. I recall that he verified that.

The driveshaft recall had to do with a potential rear drive oil leak, not any problem like this... Sounds like something in the clutch assemly won't let it engage...

Mike..

Yes, the engine rev's freely. There is no resistance, no load on the engine at all. If it is the clutch, then it is completely disengaged. As if the pressure plate exploded.

As I recall, mine has one of the very first designs on the barnett clutches. I think they changed it some after the first release. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I am able to shift through the gears with ease without using the clutch lever. The gears are engaging because I can go through the 1 down, 4 up routine and the neutral light comes on where expected. As you say; The clutch is an exercise in nothing.

I've decided not to dig into it myself since i am just too busy. But the shop guys is coming to trailer it this evening.

If its the lifter shaft and it is broke you can pull out of the cover without taking the cover off also there will be no spring return on the shaft because the spring is on the broken end that will stay in when you pull the shaft out just reach down there and pull the bith out if it move out more then a 1/2 inch rotate it detach the cable and pull her out. Oh and if you rev the bike while its out say to listen with a scope bring rags to wipe th oil off you. if it comes out whole the the lifter piece is wasted. these parts will not stop the bike from moving. straddle the bike put her in first gear turn her on and start it up and away you go you can shift up and down to check that you have all gears. If you can't get her in Neutral comming down hit the kill switch come to a stop and the put her in neutral till the light changes than hit the starter again a you can limp her home if your out on the road. if she is in gear and will not move then lefter shaft and piece are not what your main problem is.

Sorry to bud in Flip but I have broke four lifter shaft already and on a 100 miles from home but the beast still got me home.

Ya me to, the wife is up in Sanford Mi. right now. Its just me and the bike this week :D

I forgot to add on the last post that if you pull the lifter shaft out and its not broke then the head of the lifter piece is broke off. and in the sump unless you have the ne style blower and a lock up in which you hear the gringing noise as the clearance between the cover is almost none.

Warp: from your description, there is no way it could be the lifter shaft in my case. Since the bike will not move at all. You can put it in any gear and start it up and it will not move. My bike has no drive whatsoever.

It's in the shop now.
