2023 Triumph R3 GT, 2022 Moto Guzzi V85TT,
I just purchased a 2006 R3 standard. Came with a Dunlop 225/55/16 rear tire.
I have never tried this before , but willing to give it a shot. My weight is 245 LBs
It came with 30PS! and the rear was wobbling a bit. Raised it to 33PSI , and noticed a improvement. Tire wall says it can handle 44 PSI.
So far I have put a little over a hundred miles on it . I am getting more comfortable with it. As long as the roads are in good shape no problem . Went over a section of road where the pavement had been broken and a quick poorly done patch had been done . The rear end got a bit squarely. Been riding since 1961. Everything from dirt to hill clime ( fall down) bikes, to many more touring miles than I want to remember.
Here is my questions>>>
first >>>From your experience what would be a good tire pressure for solo & two up???
Second... I realize that I will not be dragging pegs around the corners. How much slower should I figure going into a curve???
Third ....What about the torn up roads. will increased pressure help on them???
Thanks in Advance

Sorry, Russ, I'll have to sit this one out as I went to the darkside on my R3 for about 6k miles this season. I liked it well enough, but because I am an aggressive rider in the twisties and she was riding about 2" up on the sidewall, I removed it for safety reasons and I would not recommend it to those who ride similarly to me. The MT may not last as many miles, however the drastically improved response and handling of it more than compensates me for any perceived losses of not running a CT.

Have fun, be safe and enjoy the ride!

BTW, when it comes to riding comfort, safety or style, there are no stupid questions!;)

It largely depends on the specific tire you're using, the rider's weight, whether you ride predominantly one or two up, the bike's suspension setup, etc,.etc.. 30-35 lbs seems to be the median pressure for most Darksiders.

Dressed up I might hit 225. I checked my pressure today the front was 27 and the rear was 28. I knew they were a little low and put the front up to 34 and the rear to 32. I have the narrowest and tallest Riken Raptor I could find, 205X60. Uneven pavement will throw you and the wider the more pronounced IMO. I ride 2up a lot and use the stock shocks on low setting and I ride aggressively.

Those are pretty low pressures, how's that working out for you?
Any scuffs on the sidewall bulge?

Riken Raptor 225/55/16 at 30 psi. I'm 300lbs riding solo. 22,000 miles and no issues.

Dunlop D404 up front at 40 psi.

After you put about a thousand miles on the darkside, you don't really notice anything different about it. It feels natural.

300?

Dragger...300!!?! Really!?!?! Have you put on weight since 3 sisters? I don't remember you looking that "healthy". Maybe a high muscle to fat ratio:D

I agree, I actually hit the twisties harder now. I guess it's more confidence.
Also a belated thanks T for all the advice in Leakey on the DS.
