Hi all-picking up my leftover 2013 tomorrow,5 miles on her I believe so not even broken in yet.Have about a 65 mile ride home to get started anyhow.
So I have already downloaded Tuneboy as well as the R3T Stock or slip-on and 20367Map Maps from the forum here and I have Tuneboy up and running on my laptop.Ordered my cable from Amazon. So obviously I will flash at some point so the question becomes when?
Will I void my warranty? That is a concern since I could have bought a used 2013 for about 2k less with just 2100 miles.
The other question is should I wait until after the break in period or because it is a MAP meant for the very same engine attached to a different chassis it doesn't really matter?Or do I wait until after the warranty expires (Not sure I can do that-knowing how much power is waiting to be unleashed)
Also, are the above tunes one and the same or does anyone have any experience or preference between one or the other?
Cheers from North Carolina.

You must have TuneECU to use a cable from Amazon. Tuneboy requires a Tuneboy cable which costs $$$$. What exhaust do you have on it? The slip on is for TORs or equivalent. The stock TOR tune is 20368.

You could very well void the warranty as Triumph could find out you switched the tune at the 500 mile service.

That there is good advice
Well alright you guys are no fun at all!I should mention that my previous ride was a VROD.The R3 was my idea to have VROD power and keep the little lady happy. Not sure how long I can live with the beast being suffocated.I was expecting yall to say go for the Horsepower!Let's see how long I last without tinkering......

I made myself leave mine alone for the first year. In that time I got use to the bike, and saved enough money to make the changes I wanted to make. In the spring she came out of the garage a different bike, louder, faster, better.

Hey I am not saying leave her alone for the full two year warranty. When Dealers have their bike set up by the technicians There is a inherent belief that one can work on a Triumph just because he has worked on other brand bikes. Far from the truth sometimes. Little things might need tweaked in, TPS stepper motor and other various things can need some adjustment if not set up right. At the same time there are good technicians out there also.
To give you an idea when I took my Rocket back for the 500 mile oil change and check (which I only had the bike three days :) )
I asked the technician to raise the head lights up so I did not have to watch the front fender. The idiot tried to tell me they do not adjust!!!! Guess who never took his Rocket back there again?

As for a Vrod they are crunchy and taste like peanut butter :D
The question is will Harley petition the Government to be able to keep the trans fat in them to aid in shelf life :)

The way you outrun a V-Rod is to short-shift. The R3T stock stops revving meaningfully at 4k, but it always has brutal torque, and torque is what does the job. Just rev to just under 4k and then shift and you'll outrun a lot. You don't have a rev counter, but you can easily tell where that is - the bike starts coughing like an asthmatic bull and refuses to rev at that point... I still don't know what Triumph were thinking.

The "Power-tripp" tune (there's a sticky thread here) is a great upgrade though, you get even more torque and 30 more horses on the top end - the engine starts revving again and will go to 6k and give you peak HP at 5.5k. I'd strongly recommend it eventually, but would concur with everyone else here and say break it in first, and ride a while.
