To those of you that asked why I needed a new wheel so soon on a 2015 Rocket I'll explain. On Sept. 23rd 2015 I posted a thread on this forum about my local Triumph dealership damaging the rim of my rear wheel mounting a new Avon 240. At that time the dealership owner apologized and even wrote on the back of his business card that he agreed to repair the wheel. Being a gentleman, I let it go despite being unhappy about the damage, I felt I could live with it.
Fast forward to November 23rd 2016. It's time to take the Rocket in for it's 10,000 mile service and once again I had the dealer mount new tires front and back. (As a side note I should add that this dealer won't mount carry in tires, they have to purchased from their parts dept. which of course charges me more than I could buy the tires for online..but whatever.) When I get the Roadster home to my horror the rear wheel rim is damaged a 2nd time, only this time it's butchered really bad. Call the owner of the dealership immediately to tell him of the damage. We agree to meet a few days later so he can see what happened. He's a no show, but the service mgr comes out and takes photos to show the owner. Service manager agrees the damage is really bad. Met with the owner the following day so he can see the damage for himself. He spots the damage from 10 feet away and knows it's bad. States they bought a new tire mounting machine for $5,000 that was supposed to prevent damage to larger rimmed wheels. (Well guess what...I hope you kept your receipt because obviously it didn't solve your problem.)
The owner is now totally blowing me off refusing to replace my damaged wheel with a new one. He even mumbled something about looking for a used wheel. Now why would I settle for a used wheel to save him money? I called Triumph Corporate in Atlanta and told them the story. They were sympathetic but pretty much said that all the regional rep could do was try to encourage the dealership owner to "step up and do the right thing." So you know that's going nowhere. But at least I filed a formal complaint on the dealer.
So here I sit with a damaged rear wheel rim. So now I'm going to buy a new wheel, have it mounted by a shop that won't damage it, keep all the receipts and sue the dealership. They can also pay my attorney's fees and court costs. I really don't care if it takes a year, I refuse to let the dealership owner walk away from this. His arrogance and condescending attitude was outrageous in light of the fact that I remained a polite gentleman during our conversation. Shame on Triumph for allowing any dealer that represents their product to treat their high end customers like this.
