MPG cut in half !!!

I am
you have two throttle position switches connectors. also you have a (map) manifold pressure sensor that have 3 vacuum tubes that go to the intake. my best guess that one of these is either off or has a crack in them.
a good mechanic with a GOOD scanner could probably tell you whats going on.
you have an OBDII connector ,i think it is to the left side of batt . if i was working on it i would pull codes if any, then check tps readings, then map readings eng off then eng running.
if the map is out of range the comp substitutes a value which is richer than normal.

I am definently going to check in that thanks a million Herman

It's not OBD-II. It's the same connector but the error codes are NOT OBD-II. It's closer to OBD-I - a much smaller set of "open" codes. very little useful data ime. TuneECU covers most error codes.
Looks like I may be going to see Wayne Tripp for a tube thanks a bunch

Is it running ruff or does it run normal? Also is the engine light on and did you do anything up top with the filter system? Is the engine light on?
I don't have any lights coming on and I haven't done anything with the filters yet. I feel like it not running as good because on rare occasions it acted like it wanted to die and it idled rough but it hasn't done thy in a while

Ok while your doing your checks look at the low tension leads on the coils they loosen up and give intermediate contact which can give you a lousy spark at the plugs. clean them and the terminals re-crimp with needle nose pliers and cover with dialectric grease. they should be tight going on the coils. maybe your just not getting a good burn in one of the cylinders.
the #1 cylinder coil is the hardest to get at as it is up front in the goose neck part of the frame.

i repeat

i agree there is not a lot of codes like a car with power windows, cruise control, traction control, montering of coils ect. however there is with a good mechanic and a good scanner and some one that knows how to use one could be very helpful.
on page 11.26 & 11.27 are 48 codes listed of which 33 are obdII codes.
i put my scanner on mine and was surprised how much data i had. Certainly enough to diagnose the problem that he has.
like bar says the tune ecu would be great if you had one.
herman

ps on some cars they run like $Hit after you disconnect the bat i never had this when i changed my bat.
if you are going to keep changing things you should get tune ecu

And a Dobeck Performance AFR Plus.
Or PC5 and AT.

Though personally, if it an option - I'd decide on what I'm changing - buy'em - go to Wayne Tripp and have him "deal with it".
The advantage being he not only has tools for analysis - he has MASSES of experience specifically of R3's.

1) Is it new? - very low mileage?
2) What model year?

When mine was NEW it would also occasionally get close to dying especially in traffic. You'd open a bit to get past a car - back off and it'd stutter. And yes - it'd smell rich. As it gained miles it improved - PC5/AT cured it completely. Sadly Mr Tripp is a wee bit far from me.

That sounds exactly like what I've got going on..It's a 2013 I don't think I even have 2000 miles on it yet
