Michelin Commander II Question

@Fingers You have a Touring -- have ABS ?

Looking at the size comparator, it would appear the 130/90 you have on front shouldn't be that different -- but I have no data and no specific knowledge of what the ABS works from.

No complaints here, so far so good. My rocket handles much better and the steering is way lighter. 100 percent satisfied. If you have abs brakes the smaller size might throw a code and deactivate the antilock! Somebody here did figure what sizes work with abs.

I think @1olbull posted a chart once that had the sizes that will not work with the ABS - Eh, bull?

Yes, he's been asked about that many times -- he has the ROADSTER -- the model for which he prepared the chart -- 17" wheels.

Need a different chart for the Touring's 16" wheels.

@Joesmoe my R3T doesn't have absbut the circumference of the 130 is close enough to the 150 that it is negligence.somebody on the site has posted this in the past @1olbull ?especially if you were to use the 180/65/16 on the rear

Tis the 130 front size that will fault your ABS.
The circumference ratio to the rear becomes too large causing the ECU to shut off your ABS.
You'll still have brakes, just not ABS.

So the tire I was looking at for the Touring -- 130/90-16 -- seemed to have about the same circumference as stock -- just narrower.

Or, asked differently, is there a substitute tire for the Touring that will be better handling that will keep ABS happy ?

AFAIK - the ABS measures the difference between AXLES to the preprogrammed values - so if the rolling circumference is the same - no problem.
EU law allows for +/- 3% rotational difference in tyre size swaps. So inside 3% you're probably safe.
Logic suggests that you could be +3% on one tyre and -3% on the other.
So as long as the overall % change is under 6% - Safe - though my gut says it's 5%.

Bear in mind that the profile size also has an effect on handling.

Schmo,
Ascertain the circumference of your OEM front and rear tires.
If the circumference varies by more than 6% your chances are that likely the ECU will shut off your abs.
