Has any one of you got the part numbers for all the bits I need to chang the cam chain and assoiated parts and a drawing of the cam holder bracket with measurments. now I have got a paddock stand to hold the thing upright I can do it my self. I do not want to go to the dealer with the bike year as he will just supply me with identical parts, I want to fit better/upgraded bits then the fix will be a lasting one:?:

What year is your bike? They started putting the parts from the Touring model in all the Rockets starting in 08 I believe. They redesigned the tensioning blades and upgraded the tensioner. I had it done on my 05 with good results

The job at hand can get a little bigger.I could not get the cam chain out past the cam sprockets not quite enough room,so you have to take out the cams, you may have more luck with yours.
it is very important to get the cam timing correct. you need to make sure you remove all the slack out of the chain on the other side from the tensioner before you tighten up the tensioneror it will move the timing about half a thooth not good;) its not real hard but you have to take your time and get it right.Cam ladder bolts must be removed as per manual. They can be over tightened should be 10nm i think without looking but i broke several torxs tools removing mine.but after that i have had know trouble undoing them.something to be aware off .ckeck your shims while your in there. You dont need to remove the basket to do the cam chain and guides etc .Good luck

I had my cams out to do the shims. The biggest problen I had was holding the cams in position whilst putting the chain back on. They are trying to open the valves somewhat at the timing mark so they don't want to stay on the mark. I got mine on the marks and then held them in place with baby vice grips. There is a tool you can buy from Triumph that is supposed to hold them. I may buy one next time. It's best to remove the tensioner first and lift the chain off the sprokets. They will snap violently when the chain comes of them (be careful) but it takes a lot of the stress off the cam ladder when you remove it. Loosen the cam ladder very easy following the directions in the manual as not to bend it ! Fred
