It stays in place and it is clear of the oil drains.
In this pic, the left rail of the jack is under the JBQ bracket and carries the bulk of the weight.
The right rail is under the sump and simply steadies the lifting.
This bike also has the front bracket, visible below the dresser bar, and while not strictly necessary (as you can see) helped steady the bike further with a second jack.
Since it doubled the cost, it didn't sell well and was discontinued.
I'm not familiar with the belly pan. An aftermarket item???
