The Chinese have supposedly developed a flat 8 copy of the Goldwing's flat 6 by adding an extra cyl on each side.

If you've never ridden a Goldwing it is a treat. I just reply to the Jap crap, mine was made in USA, Marysville Ohio.

Ive only ever ridden the 4 cylinder goldwings, I can only imagine what an 8 would be like. A new Goldwing would have been my bike purchase had I never found out about the rocket. I plan on getting a 1500 goldwing next year for the longer trips.

I looked at a Honda Goldwing but wound up on an Indian Roadmaster. I like the floorboards and relaxed seating position. It is also pretty much a put gas in it and go. Air filter change is a 2 minute job, no valve adjust, it has a belt but required one adjustment and nothing since and that was 38K ago. Is it fast no, but it eats miles like no other bike I have been on. The wife loves to ride all day on it as well, she talks about how comfortable it is.

My dad just picked up a new sport chief this summer. They make some nice looking cruisers. The triumph dealer I got my new rocket from also sells Indian so my dad got the Indian. Plus the new fairing headlight on the Harleys are ugly as sin.

The Pan Am is ugly as sin from the front. And this coming from a KTM owner. Not fond of the road glide either. I really like a lot of Indian models. They did a good job styling them. Especially the retro ones like the chief classic. Willow green and cream color with the brown leather seat and bags looks slick.

This firm has a good track record and isn't a "scrapper" type of firm. The head of it also has a long history in motorcycles so the consensus is cautiously optimistic. Polaris also kept a stake in Indian so they didn't totally walk away.

Go with the 1st Gen 1800 engine bikes 2001 to 2010. Stay away from the 2003 unless seller can prove it had the frame recall done. My 1993 1500 only had 2 carbs and a bit down on power as compared to my 1100 GW. Also the 1500 tends to wallow something terrible in the twisties. I'm told the 1800 handle something like a sport bike. A very big and heavy sport bike. You know what I mean ?

A lot of people compliment it more than any other bike I have ridden, even Harley guys. I've always rode Hondas and I think people tend to look down on the hondas a lot more.

Mind you in my area you almost never see any kind of Triumph of any kind. I noticed too, I get a lot of old timers telling me how they used to have a triumph back in the day so I think them seeing it really brings back memories for them possibly.

I've also noticed mostly from guys on cruisers that they give my bike a good long look, I think trying to figure out what it is as we pass one another. Especially when I had the forward controls on since thats not the typical sports bike foot position.

With the Hondas you will hear people say its "jap crap". I'd be hard pressed to say I've ever heard anything negitive said about triumph. Just seems odd since foreign is foreign in my book and being in the motor city you have a ton of people that believe in American built only cars and bikes, even guys that dont ride have this openion. Makes me wonder why they are so accepting of the british made bikes over others.

The US and England have shared a very close relationship for many, many years reinforced substantially by WWII.
Let's see what the current administration can continue to do to screw it up more than it has!!
