I think I am missing your point as well. You said....

I retired from road racing in 2005. Roadracers use countersteering due to the high speeds they are riding. Try "turning" the bars when decelerating into a tight turn from 150mph. You will get a serious upperbody workout if you "turn" the bars. However, if you countersteer, that literally "drops" the bike in the direction you want to change making the turn much much more easier. I could explain the physics behind why this is and what countersteering actually does but tdo not ahve enough time.
"Extra" countersteering does not cause you to scrape the boards any easier. It actually makes it a bit harder to make the turn.
Perhaps, I am missunderstanding something?
