Rocket 3 Classic 2006
I'm beginning to think me and this Rocket may be jinxed! I bought it from an independent dealer in East England.
An '06 (black engine) Classic with just over 9k miles on it. It didn't come with any service history (only 9k miles so not necessarily an issue). Dealer had it MOT'd and did an oil change before it was delivered to me. I have no idea what oil they used but I did notice that the side of the engine and the L/H footboard had evidence of an oil spill on them which had been wiped off. The delivery driver commented that they might have overfilled it (dipstick showed it was above the full mark by about the same distance as the distance between min and max level) I sucked it out until at the proper level. Bear in mind I have had the bike since Feb 1st and due to work and it being on the ramp having farkles fitted I have only put 50-60 miles on it.
Anyway, out on it today and the bloody clutch has started slipping!
-Is this likely after only 9k miles?
-Would overfilling the oil cause it (unlikely I'm thinking)
- I was told to use Mobil1 or the Castrol that Triumph now recommend, would using inferior oil cause clutch slippage??
Any advice gratefully received (head in hands gently weeping

Check the freeplay at the clutch lever .Also had a mate who had a problem with clutch slip after using full synthetic,a change to semi cured the problem.

Thanks Kipper, I'll give that a try but why TF would Tiumph a fully syn if it causes problems like this I wonder?

How far our is the clutch lever?...put it on 5 if there is numbers there....out to max...could have oil on the clutch but would slip all the time I think

There's a fair bit of play 2-3mm. And it's a wet clutch

Fqck knows Si . Just know that the oil change cured his clutch slip.2-3 mm is about correct freeplay.

1. The clutch MUST be adjusted EXACTLY as per the manual, which you can find in my signature, or you will have problems.

2. If someone put car oil in, even Mobil 1 full synthetic, then you may get a slipping clutch. You MUST use the correct specification motorcycle oil.
