I have done it again

Man, thats rough ... that's exactly why I don't change more than one thing at a time.
I think the best advice you got so far is to back track and start taking things off. I would never have the balls to take it into the dealer with all the goodies installed and the bike not running. At least when you take everything back off and still have to take it to the dealer not running, you can say it just died ... "I tinkered with it a little afterwards, but here it is".
Make sure you didn't blow a fuse and step back to remember the simple things.

Well today was the day that I either fixed my bike or took it to the dealer. I am happy to report the bike is now running and sounds f$#@#ng awesome with the preds on it. Turns out the spark plugs were fouled. I replaced all the plugs and bike runs and idles well. I think it is still running a bit rich so next stop is to get it dynoed, as I have no ability to get the map tweaked out. Not sure how the plugs being fouled coincided with the change out of the K&N's, etc. however I have things moving in the right direction.

Thanks to everyone who provided assistance! I have learned a ton about the Rocket and am now much more comfortable working on all aspects of the bike, short of tearing the engine down. :D

Happy days!!!

Good News

Matt:

Congratulations, sounds like riding back seat on the scooter with Yankee was motivation enough to get er' fixed. Glad to here she's up and running!

What made you check the plugs?

Well, I checked all the complicated stuff and decided that I should at least give them a look since all the symptoms indicated no combustion. I was convinced it had to do with something electrical as I was screwing around with everything under the tank to do my mods. Truthfully it was poor trouble shooting on my part. I think it was Regulator who said check the basics, and instead I focused on all the complicated stuff. I must say that I learned so much that I am not too upset about all the extra effort I put in.

I hear your pain! I just tried installing a Kisan Pathblazer light modulator system + 2 new GTX max purple bulbs, long story, decided to give up:confused: due to tech difficulties (master + slave unit + joining wire + light sensor!!!) trying to install these buggers with 2 year old running rampant and not giving me tools etc or giving me bits of grass etc when I want a bloody screwdriver :p- yes, the one with VODKA and orange - anyhoos, since messing with the bulbs the horn does not work anymore - musta blown a fuse - am putting in a Stebl next week so let the mechanix have at it!!! Sometimes is best to admit defeat, have a screwdriver!:D And pay the bill.

Well if anybody figures out how to install some HID headlights and get them working on BOTH high AND low beam,
I'd sure like to know that little secret.
They've been laying up on the shelf for about 2 years now.
I could get either the high OR low to work, but not both.
The only way I know they actually work is to switch the wire from one to the other
(low or high).
I know it can be done because after I had these little jewels,
and tried feverishly to get em to blaze on like they were suppose to,
finally admitting defeat,
the Tulsa Dealer took an R3 in as a trade in and it had fully functioning HID lights.
He wouldn't let me diasect it though to see how they were hooked up.
So I know it can be done, but danged if I can figure out how.

Matt:
Your plugfs fouled when you started the bike after the preds were installed and it "ran rough". It doesnt take much to foul them out. But I would have never guessed it though. It would have been the last thing I checked....although its always the last thing isnt it??
