I HATE when I'm in the middle of a job and either don't have/break/can't find a tool I need. (10mm socket anyone). Anyway I love the satisfaction of making something custom to do the job!

A weld need not be neat, just as long as it has good penetration

Looks good. A few nuts jammed together on a bolt will do the same job.

Sometimes you just have to do what needs to be done. If you don't have the right size hex drive something like this can do the trick too

Good idea. I just use the back of a spark plug socket, and a small pipe wrench.

I started to do just that. Grabbed the spark plug socket which was one of waaay too many cheap ones in the drawer. Then I spied the 3/8" extension that I had to weld to a stripped out Torx bolt holding a jeep tub to the frame, and thought, hey.....

Since this photo was taken, I've cut about 50mm off this cold chisel and use a socket on it.

I am spoiled in the shed we have a sets off big Allen keys up to 75mm across
