Here Comes the Beaver

Bruce, did the dealer say exactly what the relay mod achieves. I have 12/2010 build Roadster but complianced 1/11, I am waitng for the dealer to get the parts to do the relay upgrade.
I asked when I picked the bike up on a saturday morning but the work shop manager wasn't there and no mechanics to ask just young apprentice fitting tyres.

Thanks T

Honestly, his FBG looks and shines as well as the day she rolled off the assembly line. She practically glows. Beautiful bike.

James,

I appreciate the compliment and admit I have always kept a motorcycle clean, even the ugly ones I have owned through the years. (Anyone remember the 450 Honda with the "Guppy Tank"?) The sad thing is even though the FBG has been waxed frequently and always garaged, the paint on the tank and rear fender is starting to fade. I know it is the color and the fact the bike is over six years old. There is something about red/maroon that the sun loves to suck the life out of. I think next winter the tins will be coming off and going to a good painter. Picking a color, now that is going to be a process........

............ the other ended up back for sale about 6 months ago, My reg No. is DG59MDX if yours is close to this then you've got the counterpart one.:cool:

Small world - mines MDY so it looks like they are brothers :D. I got it at the end of August, did you know the guy who bought it new, came from Upton?

I had a TPS go bad within a couple of weeks, they were very helpful in getting it sorted - in the end Triumph instructed my local dealer in Devon to replace without cost.

I recognise the number now, I met the guy at the Ponderosa at the top of the Horseshoe pass in North Wales, runs down to Langollen. That was about 18 months ago but I didn't know where he was from.Spend enough time up there & all the biking world will go by. I have always found Bill Smiths to be fair with the after service, even now I'm out of warranty I had a couple of things go wrong & they have managed to get new bits from Triumph.I did however have to pay for them to find the connector fault after I fitted the EB harness. I suppose that is to be expected but it was a fault in the connector which was disturbed by me, still can't complain they have always been helpful.

Even smaller world - I have been to the Ponderosa many times, the Harley Riders Club used to hold their national rally at Oswestry and we had a ride-outs to the Ponderosa most years. The Horseshoe Pass is quite something.

Could anybody tell me has the 2010 roadster had the upgrade would ease my mind cheers everybody have a merry old christmas :D:D:D

Best way to be sure is to contact the original supplying dealer, if it was done as a recall they would have likely been involved. The other way is to look for a relay and in-line fuse behind the r/h side cover or under the tank at the front - these are the most likely places for the upgrade kit to be fitted.

Edit:

I found this image on the net that shows the upgrade relay - it looks to me that it is under the l/h side cover, perhaps someone with a Roadster could confirm that location.

If your ever up there again let me know I can be there inside the hour. That is if I can get away from the wife, not in a bad way, she is severely disabled & I can't leave her unless someone stands in for me.

I have a cousin who lives in Ruabon and visit a couple of times a year, next time I'm up there I will let you know, hopefully we will be able to meet up.

Sorry to hear about your wife, I have great respect for people who care for others and fully understand the sacrifices they have to make.
