head light off when you use TuneEcu

Mitch, sounds like you might be the one I need to see about a tune for my Rocket. I've seen plenty of comments on this site but have little knowledge of tuning with a laptop etc. any help would be appreciated. What area of Brissie are you? should only take me 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get there. Maye I could make the trip in acouple of weeks or so?

I'm not entirely certain for the Roadster but I assume that the headlight/starter circuit is the same as the Standard/Classic.

When you are loading a tune with TuneECU or TuneBoy, you should pull the fuse to prevent the battery drain.

When you are ready to start the engine, you must insert the fuse because it serves BOTH the headlights and the starter motor. No fuse, no lights, no start. They all go together.

With that said, the smart Captains that have already fitted the Eastern Beaver H4 Headlight Relay kit have also included the on/off switch into the kit. This allows you to turn the headlights off and keep the fuse in place. In other words, you can work with TuneECU with the fuse in and the headlights off and still be able to start the engine.

I used Tune ECU for the first time today. I was surprised by how well it worked and how intuitive it was.

Windows 7 downloaded the drivers by its self so I didn't need the drivers from the FTDI website. Also my 05 standard would not start with the headlight fuse removed. There was just a small amount of panic at this point.:confused:

I haven't up loaded a new tune yet, all I did was download the current tune and play with the diagnostics.

For the price of a $12.39 cable from Ebay this is really a cool tool.:)

Install the Eastern Beaver H4 kit with Lo-Beam cut-out. Solves the tuning with headlight off problem.;)
