What a dumbass I can be. hadn't noticed my clutch adjuster locking wheel had come loose and the clutch adjustment had slowly gotten out of spec. Adjusted it and all is good.. For all with shifting problems make sure you got the 2-3mm of freeplay in your clutch before you start worrying...
