Has anyone tried different bars on their bike and if so...what brand/model ? The only "fly in the ointment" right now for me is the bend of the stock bars. The grips are angled aft a bit more than I would like. I have some titanium hardware in my right wrist from an atv accident a few years ago and have noticed the stock bars cause me a little discomfort after a couple of hours.
Trying to get the bike ready for my first "Iron Butt" certification ride.:)

Darrell,
I've fitted ythe bars from a HD Nightster (black, of course). They are a lot more comfortable at speed with just a fly screen on because they bring you a little further forward and it's a nice balance against the windblast at 70 to 100mph. They are also slightly narrower than stock.

I havent tried any new bars yet, but Im thinking about it. My complaint is the stock bars a just a bit too wide, however Im thinking the Rivco Risers will bring em back far enough to solve the problem. Il give the Rivco's a try before I get new bars. I figure if the Rivco's dont work out there's enough people on this board that will take em off my hands.

I was going to go to the HD dealer down the street and sit on a number of different bikes to see which bars I like the best. HD bars will fit on the R3T. Try sitting on a Heritage Softail, all my HD buddies seem to think their the best bars. They put those bars on our police Road Kings I ride at work. I can tell you they are a lot narrower and have a good range of up and down options. Just food for thought

Thanks for the input fellas.
I like the position of the bars as far as width, reach, and height are concerned. It's the angle of the grips and the un-natural position that my wrists are put in that bothers me. I'll look into some aftermarket H-D bars. I'm sure I'll find something that suits me a little better.
Thanks again.

Darrell- I have a Classic and have the same complaint. The only way for me to have my hands in line with the angle the grips are at is to have my elbows in my sides. It's not ergonomic. (25 cent word)

On my vulcan 1600 the bars were great they were shaped close to the r3t but a bit angled out where the grips are I would love to have a set the same but I will deal with what I have, just my 2 cents worth

Darrell,

I too found the bend of the R3T bars to be a bit uncomfortable. At 6'2" the reach and height weren't an issue for me either. But, I ordered the new Rivco risers anyway. By bringing the bars up and back a bit it allows for a shorter reach and with your arms less extended you have more freedom of movement in your wrist.

At least that's how it seems to me. I could be wrong....:)

Interesting...I'm 6'1" and long of arm. On other bikes, I've usually liked drag bars or bars with a dirtbike style bend. Bars where the grips stick out close to 90 degrees from the frame. The bars on my R3T are angled back more towards the center of the bike.
You found the Rivco risers helped ?
The R3T bars don't seem horrible but I've only had the bike for 1 1/2 weeks and so far my longest ride has been 160 miles. I plan on doing an "Iron Butt" ride next month. I'm a little concerned about how well my right wrist will hold up riding 1000 miles in 24 hrs. It's never been the same since I had surgery following an idiotic ATV accident.
Thanks for the info.:)

A little off topic but what is with the "Pink Cupid.com" advertisement (Looking for your ideal lesbian lover???) at the top left of the page or is it only showing up here in Afghanistan?
