That's easy.....we are talking about a group ride.......I'd hate to be the tail gunner.

Etiquette. There are 2 ways to look @ it 4 a group ride scenario.

1. To learn how to fit in to the will of the group, as guided by the leader.

2. To be able to reach your individual "road zen" while still traveling with a group.

In #1 the goal becomes maintaining the group formation.

In #2 the goal is maintaining your road zen.

Road zen is accomplished by riding each stretch of road @ your ideal speed. You can not do this if you are being encumbered by traffic. This means if you catch up to traffic, then you must pass to regain your freedom. You should not be encumbered by those in your group. This is accomplished by riding order. If a faster rider is encumbered by a slower rider, in the turns, then the order is wrong. Group etiquette means "correct the order" (wave the encumbered rider by).

It's strange how opinions vary on this subject ,I have been riding motorcycles for 48 years (yes I know I must be tired lol) and ridden with large groups mostly with people I have ridden with before and in a group of eight or ten we usually travel single file with the pecking order sorted out pretty quickly fastest to slowest with pre determined stops along the way to allow for catch ups, the only time we ride 2 abreast is in town to reduce traffic light gaps and on the freeway to deter cars coming into our lane, I find it's better for overtaking slower vehicles in single file ,I have been on mass rides The Stone rides and black dog rides with riders each side at high speed and I must admit I don't feel comfortable not knowing the other riders skill level or experience ,maybe I am getting old!

Care to elaborate on that comment?

Do u mean Dick, as in *****Head?...

Or maybe being "uncomfortable" @ the right time is how you were able to get old.

My Dad used to say it's no good getting old without getting cunning ,I say old age and treachery beats youth and speed every time!

You old guys say that because you not young any more :D if I am alive when I am as old as some of you on here I hope to have half the insight you guys do then may be I can pass so info down to the next gen coming up Luckily I'm in the middle not old not young haha the best of both worlds
