Got the Progressive 440s on today

See-now Ive been interested in better shocks like the prog 440's and willing to (eventually) spend the money, but my fear is that I can barely touch the ground now with the front part of my foot! which is very annoying by the way.. so you all seem to like more leg room, I'm thinking holy crap, I'll never touch the ground even on my tippy toes!

You can go lower with the 440s but as it was pointed out it will not change the disance to the footpegs/boards.It will lower the bike a little. A narrower seat might help more.

I have the 12.5" 440 's and theyre the stock height if that helps. +1 on modifying the seat.If you lower the rear of the bike ,you must lower the front too,I believe or weird things happen to the steering geometry.That could be a solution ,though you will lose ground clearance,however do you actually get to fang it through corners in Arizona anyway? I thought it was mostly straight roads?It could be the necessary compromise.You really do need to have a foot on the ground , I believe.
OR!!! you could get......

PLATFORM SHOES!!! :razz::-D

Yeah-I heard about lowering the bike-messing with stuff like that makes me very nervous.. now whoever told you AZ was flat roads has you misinformed. Dont forget we have the Devils Highway aka 191 aka 666 aka Coronado trail-which I believe is voted one of the best twisty roads in North America. To get out of Phoenix, we can take the Beeline, twisties.... we go up through Wickenburg to yarnell/Congress and thats very twisty.. I can drag pegs, but honestly, I just like that feeling but I do it from time to time, another reason NOT to lower the bike. I just had my seat customized so Im not really inclined for another seat, but I would need a thinner seat... maybe some day my legs will grow! LOL! thanks for input always appreciated.... :)
PS love the shoes! CFM's......

Lizz, get the 440s in the same length as the stock. Your stance, that is, how your feet touch the ground will remain unchanged. That's what most do. The only difference is a much better, and safer ride. No more wallowing in tight, high speed turns. The rear will be rock solid. Before you install them set them on the lightest setting and then gradually stiffen them as needed.

My 440's are on the way and will be here Thursday. Progressive would not warranty the 418's that failed after only 14 months at the Hill Country Salvo so I opted for the 440 HD's in black to match my almost solid black bike. I'll set them on the lowest setting since I don't weigh as much as a gnat's ass but I do have the Corbin beetle bags always on my bike!

"... gradually stiffen as needed..."......hmmmm.. will have to speak to Mr Jones about that! :Tip-Hat:
