Whoever said Harley's hold their value was lying thru their teeth...but I got the motorcycle trailer sold today to my brother in law and I am $500 closer to paying the "upside downess" of the Harley off. Only $2,200 to go and I'll be riding a great bike again.

If you get to missing the hardley too much, I have an 06 XL1200 that I have over $15,000 in. I'd be lucky to get 30 cents on the dollar! Ha!;)

Harley's only keep their value if you don't ride them. Even then it's way overstated and just a marketing myth. My mate had to eat $10,000 below what he owed when he could no longer ride. He had 25,000 km on a 3yo Heritage S/T.

The cost of actual ownership is why I quit riding Harleys, it stayed at the dealer 35% of the time I had it.

I bought an 07 heritage softail classic 2 years ago, paid $12,900
for it, tried to trade it in last year and they would only give me $7,900 for it, i will keep it and give it to my son when he decides to try one:)

Do'in the best that I can, I sold my M/C trailer yesterday, now I still need to sell a Fendre Stratocaster (Mex), a Brian May signature AC30BM amp and a Vox double pedal special effects foot pedal board and I'll be their. Other than selling those if they don't sell it will be as I can save up money from each paycheck till I get the last $2,200 I need.

It'll be good to have you back. I've gone through a few Harley's, the last being a 2007 Road Glide. I agree with Elivis, the cost was too high to maintain. In my case, it wasn't the mechanics, just all the options to make a feeble attempt to customize it different than someone else. What sealed the deal was when I went on a trip with my wife. The two of us, with a loaded down tourer, pulling a loaded down camper. The suspension was sub-par and no acceleration even possible. I could fix the suspension, by it would take thousands of dollars and no reliability to get more power. This site solid me on the Rocket III Touring. Yes, I too was concerned about the ignition and grips breaking, but these guys gave the fixes just in case it happens.
