I read sometime ago that a Ryco Z386 oil filter fits our Rockets has anyone tried this filter with no problems ,they look identical to the filters as far as thread and internals ,I don't know about the filter at all just curious and cautious,if they are a good option the availability and cost is a lot better.
I use the Purolator PSL14610 along with Red Line Synthetic 2OW50 oil it is a synthetic filter. It is longer and leaves about a 3/4 inch blue stripe showing after the chrome cover is installed.
Saw the stamp on the backside of a Triumph oil filter for a 2005 Bonneville and have bought wix ever since. Kind of like genuine Harley Davidson spark plugs. Auto Lite makes them for Harley. Harley Davidson genuine oil made by Sun-co. Amazing.
Since there are a few different K&N filters that fit the R3, some might not allow the chrome cover to be reinstalled. A friend just buys the chrome oil filter and leaves it as is.
The triumph website lists T1218001 as the correct filter. I have heard that this filter superseded the t1210444 a while back, perhaps this is the reason for confusion..
For what its worth, maybe for a cross reference, I've used K&N 204 since I got the bike and there was a K&N 191 on my spare engine when I got it - I believe others have used the 204 and 191 also.
No K&N for me not since the recall for the sprinkler filters. Bad hex spot welds spray oil well but not inside the motor. As for the purolator PSL14610 is no longer made. They now have the BOSS filter. Still 100% synthetic. On my 4th one now.
