gas charged rear suspension

From everything I've heard and experienced there seems to be a pretty distinct progression in suspension upgrades. Progressives are the least expensive and a noticeable improvement over stock. Hagons seem to be a bit better than Progressives. Penske, Ohlins and Wilbers are in a different league and their prices reflect that.

I've only seen Wilbers on BMWs and many consider them comparable to Ohlins. Ohlin makes shocks for a wide range of bikes and is probably the most widely used of the premium brands. Which should make it easier when rebuild time rolls around. I've never used Penske, no have I ever know anyone who has.

Another alternative is Race Tech. They make a wide range of products and I know they created a setup just for the R3T. I have no experience with their products but a local Triumph mechanic speaks very highly of them.

WIlbers really interest me. Wish there was more info on a web site. Anyone found any? The US site just says "coming soon" and to call for info.

do you have some doug ? i've been looking lately but have'nt read any independant reviews. i know just about anything has got to be better than stock but none of them are exactly cheap to experiment with.:(

Yes I have a pair fitted, they transformed the bike for me but I'm a big lad and needed some heavy duty shocks for two up travelling.

hello Nick how are you doing!! I have not ridden this year yet, I am doing aviation stuff in kuala lumpur for another week or so and I bought wilbergs as well with front springs hope to get it all together in early july.. thanks for the link for all those in the USA who like the shocks..keep in touch.
take care

Patrick, what are you doing there?

Getting some cash to afford another European tour?

Would love to see you as a guest to a BBQ in Sweden this summer!

Have you put any miles on the Wilbers yet?

If I remember correctly. Progressive Vtx1800 and r3 shocks are the same. I do also believe ohlins makes rears for the vtx. I'd betcha they would be a direct fit. If they in fact do make em '
You are right my friend. Exactly the same. But I already have 440's on the X. Only shopping for the R3. Several attractive options. Thanks all.
