fully open secondaries

Bottom line, Throttle Response. The best way to solve this, is to remove the secondaries completely. That way, you don not have to worry if the tune that you have loaded is opening them when they should be in order to give you the quickest throttle response.

Just removed my secondary butterflies last night after 62,000+ miles. After my 40 mile ride to work this morning, I see no purpose for the secondaries.. :) It does have better throttle response.. :)

As a R3 newbee, was Triumph trying to keep too much power to the wheel in low gears ie: no wheelies etc. ?

I had my bike dynoed with a tune with the 2ndaries open 100% in all gears at all RPM followed by a stock tune for TORs/cat bypass with them partially closed. The dyno was done in 4th.

What you see is a decrease of 13 ft/lbs from 150 to 137 peak torque at 2700 rpm.

A reduction of 9%. Significant but not explosive.

so if i remove the three secondary butterfly's???

while cleaning my 08 R3 classic this evening i discovered that it has the a9600203 tors pipes from what i understand, and the cat is not there meaning it also has the cat delete. it runs great, but it does still have the stock intake. by removing the three butterfly's, assuming they're the secondarys, would i need a new tune? i'm new to the rocket 3's but i'm really impressed with them.

I asked my dealer service guy if I needed to retune after removing secondaries and changing to 3 x K&N pod filters, he said "No, the bike is able to adjust itself"

Hey guys, the bike will componsate for the improvements to a degree. But to maximise performance it is best to either remap original ecu or install a tuneboy or pc3.. It might be running slighty lean, so increasing fuel to air ratio will help. If your hearing popping from the exhaust when backing of the throttle at around mid to high revs then she may need a slight touch up.. Either way you will improve it's performance.. Hope that helps.. :D
