Can anyone help my r3 has no cat triumph sports exhaust , k&n filter under seat,
Been remap, I only get 28mpg, I want to get better fuel consumption , been told to take it to triumph dealer and they can remap bike to factory setting for better fuel consumption . Is this true.

All depends what you want from your Rocket. Not many of us are too worried about fuel consumption - getting the correct air/fuel mix ration is more important. You don't want to be running too rich and especially not too lean. Within bounds you can aim for slightly better economy at the expense of power but at the end of the day the biggest impact on economy will be the way you ride. Some get better than 30 mpg but if you want 50mpg or even 40 you're on the wrong bike.

Can I ask. Where ya from??
Are you talking US gallons or UK gallons.

I can get 300Ks out of a 24 litre tank. That equats to 35 mpg UK or 29 mpg USI know guys that reckon they're getting 400Ks from a tank, but they could be talking thru their chocolate starfish for all I know.

I reckon I'm running a bit rich as I can smell unburnt fuel when it's sitting at idle, but like CR3 says, you don't want to be running lean, and if you wanted economy then ya got the wrong bike.

You could take it back to your dealer and have a different tune loaded into it but they are still only guessing what's the best one and charging you for the experiment.

Dyno's the only real way to get it set up correctly but you'd need a means of altering the ECU like Tuneboy or Power commander unless they are familiar with the TuneECU program.
If I were you I would be to buying a Power Commander V and Auto Tune.

MPG I have never been interested in any car or bike I have ever had, but especially the Rocket with its 2300cc tractor engine it gets what it gets.
No two riders will ever get the same, location, type of fuel, altitude and attitude, terrain, mods to the bike etc etc etc etc will effect the MPG of each bike.
Not any help I know I just like hen pecking at the keyboard:D

IMO. Your on the wrong bike if your looking for a fuel sipper. If your getting 28-32mph. Your doing pretty good given you have a 2.2 liter engine between your legs. Your 2.2l cars get that. They don't have the H.P. or touque. If you want a fuel saver. Buy a honda metropolitan. I hear they get about 100mpg:eek:

With all seriousness, 28mpg is on the low side, without knowing where you are located, how high or low about sea level etc,
I get anywhere between 22 and 32mpg depending on how hard i twist the trhotle, in my opinion it would not be cost effective to spend a bunch of money on the beast just to get 2mpg more but that's just me.
Sorry i couldn't help:(

Hi NZ we run 95 octain I get 28m to UK Gallon around town and 47m on the open road we got to many cops on our roads to decrease that usage and thats 2 up .with out the wife the usage is a lot more ;)

If you take it to a Triumph dealer they would simply charge you to put in a standard map which would likely lose a lot of power. Any idea which map you have in it now? Did you use tuneboy or tuneECU?
95 octane in New Zealand is not the same as in North America BTW.

Hi, I'm from the uk, yes I no I got a big beast of bike,
But expected to get better mpg. Didn't think I needed fuel tanker
Running along side me. But saying all that I love the bike to bits.
Just want good advice, of bikers that can to improve fuel consumption on this
Beast. If its thirsty bike well it's going to something I have to put with

Its on triumph map 3, so i been told from the fella i bought it off, remember im here for advice, Been told over here off allot of r3 users that i should be getting more mpg, yes i no it depends how you ride, and yes i no its a big motor, that the point of having a beast like this, is having fun without breaking the bank, petrol may be cheap there usa ,but would he be saying get a honda if he rode over here, i dont thinks so. So cheers for the advice you given me, will see what i can do. But one thing i wont be selling it, if anything i will be buying another one.
