Found this after work

Never had bad coonass food yet, and the more they study cholesterol, the less diet seems to matter.

I would respectfully disagree, as for chits and giggles I have studied nutrition and supplements for over 30 years.

Cholesterol is made up of many individual components. LDL being one of the more important especially if you have heart disease (I do) or had a heart attack that number should be 70 or less. Many recent studies have looked into the importance of LDL-particle size. Studies show that people whose LDL particles are predominantly small and dense, have a threefold greater risk of coronary heart disease.

Furthermore, the large and fluffy type of LDL may be protective. HDL the supposedly good cholesterol is the one that no longer carries the weight it used to. For example if you have low cholesterol you will have low HDL because all of the components of cholesterol drop. Therefore just because its low doesn't make it a bad thing because its relative.

The body makes all the cholesterol it needs. The brain being the biggest consumer of it. Anything extra we eat is not needed and can cause problems. Diet is a huge factor and the most modifiable. You can lower cholesterol better than a statin with diet alone but the Doctors won't tell you that (no money in it). I am proof tho as I lowered mine 50-75 points by diet alone. Food is medicine.

Sorry for the long ramble but nutrition is a subject I'm passionate about.

Ok grumpy tell us about the diet.

Lets start by not calling it a diet. The word diet eludes to there being an end. There is no end...it's a lifestyle. Most won't like it in the beginning but given time people usually like it...bottom line, it works...WFPB...Whole Food Plant Based. I'm not perfect on it but am able to do it 95% of the time. There is much medical literature on the benefits of this lifestyle beyond cholesterol. Many books on the subject which I am happy to share, just PM me.
