Floorboards vs Footpgs

Just swapped out my floorboards for footpegs and what a difference its made.

Only had the bike a month or so but never felt totally at ease cornering with the floorboards. Dont know whether it was foot or leg position but always felt a little hesitant cornering. Especially at roundabouts. Maybe the floorboards act like stabiliser wings??

Since puting on the pegs the whole bike has just freed up, more manuverable and a whole lot better rideability. My confidence is way up there again and all I want to do now is throw the big girl into corners.

Looking now to update my hospital coverage and possibly selling of the floorboard setup

Dont know if anyone else has an opinion but I guess its personal preference.

I prefer footpegs..The demo bike i rode was a classic equipped with floorboards and i'm going to get shot down in flames for saying this..but i think the floorboards are
too Harley and make the bike feel like a barge

Glad to hear someone else say the same.

Id go with jayray for the new name. has the same ring to it but obviously a totally different person.
 
Aw, everybody knows (even though I may be risking meeting Ray in August for this), that only real men can ride anything with floorboards or pegs with abandon than those rank amateurs who have to ride a "peg" bike.

Had pegs, went to boards. For my riding style, they work.

There's been some trade off's for sure.

Whatever makes you enjoy your ride more, go for it!
 
I don't really have a preference; depends on the bike. Pegs would look goofy on a large touring bike, IMO. But, I'm just as comfortable with either. Again, just depends on the bike. I wouldn't have dreamed of putting pegs on my R3T, but I wouldn't dream of putting boards on my T-Bird; would totally ruin the look of the bike, IMO.

As far your being able to corner easier, it's likely because your foot is at more of an upward angle with pegs and this is allowing you to use your legs more to push; allowing you to lean easier. I don't think a lot of folks realise just how much you can use your legs to assist with steering a bike. I've never really paid any attention to the difference between pegs and boards in that regard, but I could see it working that way.
 

Have to admit the bike has a much more streamlined look since I took the front and rear floorboards off.

Im thinking after a few months of riding the rocket with pegs that going back to the boards will be no problem. Maybe more of a mental issue since Im still only a few weeks into riding the rocket.
 
Oh but the boards are soooo comfortable. It was a little strange after the swap but now I can ride in slippers and black socks. lol
Its like the wind screen, never thought about it until I had one .... now I don't know how I got along all those years without.
But anyone out there wanting to switch over to pegs .... I've decided I like my boards well enough to sell the peg set-up, I won't be going back to them.

It's the whole kit, right down to the brake line. Shifter, brake, bars, pegs etc.
