Ok guys - I've been toying with this for a while.

I WILL NOT be splashing out for a GoPro etc. It's not something I intend to do often. And I wont be doing it if it's raining.

Basically it's just to document stuff like my ride to work or lighting comparisons - that sort of thing. Probably will have it in my jacket or top case most of the time - it will not be a black-box thing. May also get myself a black-box thing too - but for the car. We'll see.

The guys who made the famous key-fob cameras have made a more conventional looker called the Mobius. 70 bucks it's a no-brainer
http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2013/7...e-do-it-all-mount-anywhere-1080p-micro-c.html for tests review. Not waterproof - but for my needs it's not a deal breaker.

But here are some questions re MOUNTING for good results.
  1. Frame or Forks?
  2. If Forks - sprung or unsprung mass?.

I figure the most realistic vids to watch are those taken from somewhere near the rider's point of view, tho don't like clips from helmets much. Handlebars seem to be the go here???? (Also can't see the speedo,,,, ta da de dum.....)

 And.... you can make yourself look pretty good by tipping the camera slightly to one side, then your lean angles will make Rossi look like a mug. Nobody seems to notice that opposite corners are flat ones.........

Bars are not poss' on my beastie. I have custom bars and they're narrower.

A no to helmet-cams from me too for what I have in mind - though for Black box use they're better as you'll instinctively look at that pillock coming at you.

I'd go for Enginebar-ish - or Screen (fore or aft of) - or maybe atop the front mudguard.

For riders POV (and I tend to agree with you Ruzz') - has to be the screen really dunnit! - Hmm.

Rossi? - who dat? ;)

Screen? At one stage I made up a lil' bracket to attach the camera to the screen mounting brackets. Final position of the camera was a little above where it later ended up on a left bar mount, and slightly left of, and above, left headlight. Could see edge of screen on films, and looking out above and to left of that headlight, which also showed on the film. Vids looked good, sort of included bike in the scenery.... sort of reference point ... sort of...!!

Could not rely on film THROUGH the screen, often get sun/lighting reflections from ahead and behind, resulting in white-outs, or whatever they're called.

Forks works for me. up near lights works well for me. you can get straps that attach the cam to your chest. seen a mate that filmed a track day from his chest which was brilliant. smooth, great view etc. i personally wouldn't strap to my chest when touring etc but if you are doing it occasionally may work for you.

I had two Gopro cams mounted while riding the Dragon last May. One on the right fork a little below the headlights and one on the left side crash bar. Both seemed to work out fine
