Ride
rocket 3 roadster
hi i have a 2010 rocket roadster, the other day i took a ride stopped and got a pop, went to start it again and it was dead as a doornail. New battery , checked all fuses , rechecked battery connections...nothing, all i have is the brake light and turn signals. The mods to the bike are some led turnsignals in back, which i have had for 2 years, i run power commander and gipro. The bikes instruments dont even light up ...no headlights either, not even a click from the solanoid. Could it be the ignition switch did rockets have any electrical issues any of your are familier with? thanks in advance

Also i saw something pretty neat today in my tiny little town ..a huge triumph trailer inside was a salt track triumph bike with 2 rocket motors in it. I got to see the motor compartment and its stuffed...the motors are turbo charged and the guy trailering it to georgia said it did over 300mph...i bet those motors are putting out over 300hp apiece? I took pictures if anyone wants to see them i can post them.

Firstly hello how are you nice to meet you , yes sounds like the ignition is gone if you have not had a beaver kit fitted or the Triumph recall done . The headlights run off the ignition circuit so over time heat causes a failure .

Either the ignition switch (probably) or a fuse. My guess is the white wire in the ignition switch needs re soldering.

Those motors put out 500 each.

G'day and welcome.

Welcome aboard. The other thing I would check is battery leads. If there is any corrosion there may be too much resistance to let the starter engage, but my money is on the ignition switch

Heard a lot about ignition switch issues with R3s, so much so that the previous owner had installed a second hidden ignition switch as a preventative measure on mine. Would be the first thing I'd suspect too.

I had a problem with my 2010 Roadster that is very familiar with the symptoms you described.
Found out it was the main fuse (the 30 amp fuse) connection in the fuse box. There is two wires that lead up into the fuse box for each fuse. One wire with its connector was not staying locked into the plastic fuse box. Therefore I was barely getting a connection and then sometimes not at all. When I would get a bad connection the bike would shut down or not crank. I would then check all my fuses and none of them was blown. I would just stick them back in their slots. When I did that I would "fix" the bad connection until it would slowly not make a connection again.

What I did was take both wires out of the fuse box for the 30 amp fuse and soldered a in line fuse holder to both wires. Never had a problem again with the bike not cranking or shutting off.

Pic of in line fuse holder.
