Still searching for a Rocket here. I'm kind'a wanting a Classic but haven't come across the right one yet. Question... I've seen a couple of decent deals on 2009 touring models. Can the ECU/Computer from a Roadster be put/used in a Touring, and get the Roadster hp/tq performance?

Thanks

The systems are different so the ECUs cannot be swapped. But, @HansO should be able to provide a tune for the Touring ECU to get it up to full power

System, can you be more specific? From what I've read I gather the exhaust would need to be changed. But I thought the cams, heads, intake/induction is the same... no? Sorry, I know these are prolly very basic questions, but still learning about the Rockets.

It simple bud they have different ecu and totally different harness plugs. Of course the electronics (which is on the tank in the touring) and in the gauges are different so the programming of the total different ecu is well just different.
So here you go Roadster ecu's and the Touring ecu's are also different from the 2005 to 2009 era Standards, Classics, and Classic Tourer's. The 2005 to 2009 Standards, Classic's and Classic Tourers will take the same ecu and or programming.
Hope this clears it up for you.

Yes, the R3T looks like a different bike and it IS a different bike. The same engine but little else. However software is software and you can change the tune in the R3T so it works like a Roadster. It is factory tuned for buckets of torque, but with the right tuning you can have that and horsepower too!

Ah ha, that is very helpful. Having been a Harley driver for +45 years the lines of the Touring are a bit more appealing to me, or maybe familiar would be a better way of putting it. Thank you muchly, Warp9.9.!!

Thank you rocketjohn. I'll give more consideration to the Touring's I see for sale. And I'll do a search here regarding a tune to get more out of a Touring. A plus to me is the bigger bags on the Touring models. Allot of times I'll use my HD Road King as a grocery getter, so big bags matter :D

Yep, bags are a must have for me.....got everything and possibly even a kitchen sink in my R3T! Not to mention that the sissy bar will support a fully loaded tbag. And aftermarket touring trunks can be fitted as well for whatever you may need one.
