EB headlight relay kit

that won't solve the ignition switch load issue but will reduce the load a bit due to lower drawing current and if you are thinking of going HID go a 6000K unit also get the single element servo Hi / Lo beam, it actually moves the globe back and forth so you don't get the momentary darkness as the HID globe heats up

I will go ahead and ask you this... I might have already asked once but my mind is burnt out... lol

I have a HID kit that came off of my sportbike for dual headlights ( 2 ballast, 2 head light connectors). It is just sitting here and I was wondering how do I install it on the R3 but yet be able to turn my headlight on dim as well as bright? See on the sportbike it would just cut on the left head lamp on for low beam (ride around all day with just that one side lit up) and on high beam it would just the right one (both ballast working at the same time)

WTF is "single element servo Hi / Lo beam" lol You have to be patient with me.
 
Ok I took the wiring apart on my bike to see how the recall kit is wired. This is what I found. I didn't add the stock wiring diagram to the "stock relay" because I'm trying to keep it less confusing.

Looks like one relay to power both high and low beam, I think Hanso said to work this way the power still goes through the dip switch. IMO I would not do it this way for that reason and that the existing loom has thin wires on the headlight circuit (this may have been upgraded on later model Rockets). You can check the wires at the point where it breaks out of the main loom under the tank. You can tell by compering the wires on both sides of the plug, the ones to the headlights are thicker.

I am using Logic here but from what you show and from what my Dealer has said after checking it out and discussing it with me he agrees that I am right in saying they have simply shifted the weakest point to the Diper Switch I personally would still be puting in the EB kit. as for the your HID lights I am asuming they are a single fiement globe similar to a spoty or driveing light, you should be able to get a half decent auto electrician to wire them in the way you want it and If I am understanding you corectly when on low beam you have just one light and when you select hi beam it stays on and a higher beam comes on as well which would prevent the dark moment that would otherwise occur if you just switch one off when the other came on, the dark moment is while the HID globe energises up it is has to warm up before it can generate the light it is only a few seconds but at say 60 mph that quite afew yards with almost no light. the servo high low is a one filimant globe which simply shifts back and forth when you dip from high to low as the globe moves out it gives you low beam because the further the light source is from the reflector thewider the beam, when you dip to high the globe pulls back bring the filiment (light source) closer to the reflector and concentrateing the focus from the reflector to give more distance while still giveing a spread of light and because unlike twin filement globes the light source stays on you have no dark moment
 
by the way I learn't a lot of this sh1t by being being very inquisitive and researching before I buy, also just being lucky to have a analictical minded and that allows me to see a solution, I can usally see a problem and suss out how to fix it was looking at going that way till I found my IPF Super clear globes they cost $150 but put out over twice as much light as normal globes and are good for bikes as they are designed to be used in 4x4's so are very vibration resistant:cool: I will see how well they last if they give a good life then I will stick to them but other wise will go for 6000K servo hi/ lo HID's single filiment globe lights
 
Well at least Triumph has moved up from the Prince of Darkness (Lucas electrics) to Prince of Dimness (running the light circuit through the ignition switch).:cool:
