Ok fellow Captains I finally got a chance to do the dummy switch replacement. I now have the capability of turning off my headlights from the throttle switch. I will have the capability of running fog lights from this switch as well with the circutry there for that too. The parts were sourced from an 01 Sprint (Tiger) housing. I purchased mine for £20 or 32 dollars plus 10 dollars shipping from Ebay UK just like the previuos post stated. US ebay will not have this same type setup.
I started by removing the swiches from the throttle housing (2 screws) & removing the harness from the bike(made it much easier to fish wires thru harness sheathing, as well as install sourced parts into housing).
This is the harness connector under the tank that has to be disconnected to remove the harness.

This is the Sprint housing.

These are some of the parts from the Sprint housing.(be careful when removing the slider switch from the outside of the Sprint housing. See the little ball, its spring loaded.)

The one on the left is the Sprint. One on the right is the Rocket (notice the slide area is identical ).

I was amazed that the Rocket housing actually had most of the parts inside it. One on the right is the Rocket slide contact plate less the the copper contacts.

Again the one on the bottom is the Rocket less the copper contact & wires ( I spliced an additional 16" to the wires )

The rocket housing with the new switch installed. FACTORY

Note of interest. No parts had to be altered to do this mod. Just R & R sourced parts. Only additional wire had to be added. For the Captains that have done the headlight relay mod it will be that much easier as all I did was connect into the low beam relay (one wire to post #86, the other to the wire that went to it.)
One other note worth mentioning is I used the red wires off the contact pad which is the center position on the switch. (The center pos. is for headlights on. The left for headlights/ fog lights on. The right pos. off).
