Dropping your Rocket?

If it gets dropped it gets dropped. Not good but what do you do. If something breaks then it would be an exuse for new mirrors (maybe the skeleton hands with gold?), or just a new look. Hopefully not too expensive. More expensive is if you get broken.:D

Ok i was checking my oil, i like to check it while sitting on the bike then you don't have to block it up or anything to get it level. Put the dipstick back in and let it go, i was done. Just one problem the kickstand was still up:eek:, i could not believe it! A couple small scuffs on the lower part of my left corbin hardbag and a nick or two on the left highway peg, felt i got lucky. Have never dropped a bike before, wrecked them but not dropped them like that. Very glad i had highway bars or it would have been ugly.

+1 on the front and rear bars, rocketbill!

They may not save one's bacon in a bad get-off, or even help you to save face in a casual let down or drop job, but they sure can save you some repair $$$ in either event.;)

The only time I had to pick up my rocket was when I totaled it and even then the bystanders did it for me so I guess I have never had to pick one up
Just had to buy a new one
I hear there heavy :D

well i hate to say it....

I bought my Rocket III Classic (used 2008 with 5,100 miles) June 13, 2012 from Farmers Branch, Texas (suburb of Dallas) off of RPM Cycle. Very nice bike I might add, looked like brand new. Anway, I'm from Illinois and rode the Amtrak alll the way from central IL to Dallas, and picked my bike up shortly afternoon in Dallas. Boris the shop manager and I went over certain things on the bike: how to change the oil, etc. etc. and then went into his office for the paper work and to pay for it and then I WAS off on my own. I headed out for Georgetown Texas to see a friend and when I checked into the Comfort Suites Inn very late that afternoon, pulled up to a parking space, put my foot down and YES there was very small pieces of gravel that I did not see and just like stepping on marbles, my foot slipped and YOU GOT IT - down I went. I had the strength of superman when I pulled it back up, heart beating 90mph. This ole 63 year old man has never moved so fast. But after about a 5 minute check over, there was absolutely NO damage. I had engine guards on it and the leather saddle bags saved it. I would have been able to keep my Bonneville T100 from tipping cause I've had the same experience with it and could manhandle it - not the Rocket though. So yes I learned my lesson "Be ****ed careful where ya put your foot down when parking and or manuvering that big beast at very slow speeds."

It's always worth getting them up immediately; probably the only time you'll manage it on your own. :D Glad you had no damage; that would be awful with a new bike (or an old one for that matter). Mine's been over once - parked with the stand on the high side and used too much force jamming some gear into the saddle bag. Went over very slow. Bars and bag saved it too. And it was back up in seconds. Had plenty of "moments" with gravel, leaves, a newspaper with plastic wrap, even a small stick that rolled and also on uneven ground.

Only time mine went down was due to the idle problem, taking a corner and it stalled and rear locked up,dealer couldn't fix problem so went with tune boy, problem fixed.
