Thanks to you marvellous people I've recently upgraded my starter motor to a 1.4kW Toyota and thrilled with the results.
My woe on the way to work this afternoon is Trooper has got herself stuck in 5th gear! The gearshift is solid, it ain't gonna shift out of 5th. Having a rummage through forums here, I'm guessing that it's probably the detent spring, or am I wrong? My mechanical knowledge in this field is limited. Probably gonna have my local mechanic take care of it. Still need to ride home tonight tho' and will rely on mega torque to do so - 11 miles
So I was riding as normal at normal road speeds, left my home town to travel to the next town over for work, outside of town shifted into 5th, everything running smoothly, went to shift down to negotiate some bends and she wouldn't, so travelled all the way to work and through town nursing the clutch in 5th. Otherwise everything else seems to be running smoothly and well.
Detent spring will either make it stick in one gear or it won't stay in gear without applying slight pressure on the gear selector. My bet is the detent spring is broken.
